Does Struktr support multiple organizational hierarchies?
Struktr supports both reporting hierarchies (who reports to whom, like traditional org chart software) and domain-based organization (who works on what). Each employee can:
- Have a single reporting manager (traditional hierarchy)
- Belong to one domain (functional organization)
- Be classified by level (IC, Manager, Director, VP, etc.)
This gives you flexibility to represent matrix organizations and cross-functional teams.
What’s the best way to visualize cross-functional teams?
For cross-functional teams, we recommend using Struktr’s domain feature:
- Create domains for each product area or initiative
- Assign team members to their relevant domains
- Use the Domain Tree view to see all contributors to each domain
- The org chart view still shows reporting relationships, like in traditional org chart software
This way, you can see both who works on what (domains) and who reports to whom (hierarchy) without confusion.
Is Struktr an HRIS? Will it replace our HR system?
No — and it never will be. Struktr is deliberately not an HRIS, and that’s by design.
Different tools solve different problems:
- If you’re trying to understand people, use an HRIS
- If you’re trying to understand power, use an org chart
- If you’re trying to understand ownership and alignment, use Struktr
Struktr is a better org chart software built to answer questions like “Who owns this domain?”, “How is decision-making distributed?”, and “Are responsibilities aligned with our structure?” — not “Who gets paid what?” or “When is someone’s contract up for renewal?”
What Struktr intentionally doesn’t and will never do:
